One-Act Play
Only 1 point determined the 2nd Place result! Both Mitchell and Alliance were tied in rank for 2nd Place in the Western Conference One-Act Contest, which was held at Alliance High School on Saturday, November 13, 2021. However, the judge's overall points decided the tie in the 2nd Place ranking: Mitchell - 163 points, Alliance 162 points!
So, your Alliance High School One-Act team earned 3rd Place in the Western Conference One-Act Contest, earning a Superior rating from all 3 judges.
In addition, the following AHS students were recognized with Outstanding Performance Awards:
Mario Rodriguez
Sierra Banks
Christian Soriano

The AHS One-Act team will perform for the public on Tuesday, November 30, at 7:00 pm in the PAC. There will be a small admission fee to help cover the expense of traveling to the B-6 District competition, which will be held in Gothenburg on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Please come and support our kids on November 30 - we need to practice in front of a big crowd to get ready for District competition!

What is it?
The one-act play is a play production contest, and is part of the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA). We prepare and rehearse a 30-minute play, & then perform at a District contest with 7 other schools during the first week in December. The play is judged in the areas of acting, staging, set, & light design. We also perform at least one public show in Alliance for the community, family and friends. The PURPOSE of one-act is to learn the art of theatre: to cooperate as a group to create and bring to life a story or an artistic experience before a live audience. We also have fun, play theatre games, learn different skills and aspects of theatre production, develop confidence, and make friends! (NOTE: One-act is an NSAA sanctioned activity, and students MUST remain academically eligible to participate.) |
How to get involved
Come and see Mrs. Green in Room 204 after school! She will give you all the information you need to get involved! You must participate in a fun, low-stress audition to be considered for a role onstage. However, you do not need to audition to help with lights, sound, props, or set work. Auditions are usually held during the second week in September. The daily announcements will always have information regarding what/where/when for the one-act play. Also, Mrs. Green is always available after school to help and answer questions. When are rehearsals? Rehearsals begin in mid-September, and are held every Monday & Tuesday evening from 6:50 – 8:30 pm, and every Thursday from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. We have lots of fun! Join us! |
