The Alliance Public Schools Administration team has made it our mission this school year to increase school attendance in grades PreK through 12.
One of the goals of our district-wide attendance campaign is to help educate community patrons, parents, and guardians about the importance of attending school regularly! Regular school attendance is crucial for success at all levels! According to attendanceworks.org staring in pre-kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school. By 6th grade chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
Just missing 2 days of school a month can equate to missing 20 days a school year, missing 30 hours of math over the school year, missing 60 hours of reading and writing over the school year and over 1 year of school by graduation! When a student improves their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating, earning a college degree, and earning a higher paying job.
